The European Union Coordination Unit (EUCU) is an academic unit established for promoting interdisciplinary research on Europe and the European Union (EU) with a view to support relevant academic studies. It is actively involved in international projects related to the EU, and coordinates the EU infrastructure of Doğuş University. The EUCU staff consists of academics who are experts on the EU and European studies.

One primary aim of the EUCU is to become an academic and intellectual platform in Turkey’s accession process with the EU and also lead research on the EU and Turkey-EU relations. In this context, the EUCU organizes high level scientific conferences, seminars and panels. It also develops research projects and works in close cooperation with national and international organizations, universities and civil society institutions.

Responsibilities of the EUCU

General restructuring of Doğuş University in line with its European counterparts within the context of harmonization with the European Union, also within the Bologna Process.

MA in Global Affairs & Eu Studies: This programme has been created with a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach, and is presented by an international team of scholars from all over Europe. The programme is conducted under the Social Sciences Institute and detailed information can be requested from sbe@dogus.edu.tr

Jean Monnet Project: EUCU has brought 4 Jean Monnet Awards (1 Jean Monnet Chair and 3 Jean Monnet Permanent Courses) and 1 EU Commission Academic Subsidy Award on EU Governance to Doğuş University within the context of its EU activities , and continues to launch more research and teaching activities regarding the European Union.

Jean Monnet Resource Centre: This Centre is established within the auspices of Doğuş University Library and offers a selection of latest and core books on the European Union on a multidisciplinary basis.

Participation to the EU Higher Education and Research Programmes: This includes all activities regarding the EU agencies and programmes containing academic and student exchanges, research, etc.

Public lectures, seminars, and high-level scientific conferences on European Union: In this context, the EUCU is organizing international conferences, lectures and panels periodically to inform the general public on the EU and the EU process of Turkey, thus sharing its expertise.

Cooperation with NGOs and other universities on European affairs: EUCU is strongly committed to be part of the civil society initiatives and takes an active part in the activities of the NGOs related to Europe and Turkey-EU relations as part of its mission. The EUCU also acts as an advisory body to the Turkish civil society.
