Doğuş University Department of English Translation and Interpreting Celebrated International Translation Day with an Event

Department of English Translation and Interpreting organised a seminar titled “Current Issues in Interpreting at Disaster Situations” on 5 October 2022 at Beykent University, Taksim Campus to celebrate International Translation Day.

Prof. Dr. Turgay Kurultay and Prof. Dr. Alev Bulut from the Organization for Interpreters-in-Aid at Disasters (ARÇ) and Kemal Koçak from Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) participated in the event. The seminar focused on the concept of interpreting at disaster and emergency situations within the broad field of community interpreting as well as the establishment, structure and function of the Organization for Interpreters-in-Aid at Disasters. The participants continued to discuss current issues in the field and various activities carried out by ARÇ and AFAD for better disaster preparedness and emergency response in the second part of the seminar.
