A Meaningful Visit to Darülaceze: Intergenerational Solidarity and Applied Social Work Experience
Students from Doğuş University Social Work Program carried out a field trip to the Darülaceze on the occasion of World International Human Solidarity Day. During the program held on Friday, students met with Darülaceze residents and had the opportunity to observe the institution’s operations on site and gain applied social work experience.
The field trip was conducted under the guidance of Social Work program faculty members Asisst. Prof. Dr. Roza SÜLEYMANOĞLU, Lecturer Damla AKARSU AYDIN, and Lecturer Burcu AYDAN. Within the scope of the program, students were informed
about the history of Darülaceze, its service model, and social work practices for elderly individuals.
In the applied part of the visit, a tree-planting activity was carried out with the joint participation of students and Darülaceze residents. The activity not only raised environmental awareness but also provided a meaningful social interaction space that strengthened intergenerational interaction and supported collaborative production.
The field trip was an important practice that enhanced students’ professional awareness by enabling them to experience a rights-based, inclusive, and life-cycle-sensitive approach in the field.
We would like to thank the Darülaceze for their hospitality.
