Educational Access: As an educational institution, DOU provides extensive scholarships and financial aid, enabling students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to attend university. This commitment to inclusive education helps reduce economic inequalities and lift families out of poverty through opportunity. 

Partnerships in Relief: The university community often mobilizes in solidarity during crises. Students and staff have volunteered and raised funds for disaster relief (e.g. earthquake aid campaigns), ensuring vulnerable populations receive food, clothing, and shelter. These efforts align with SDG 1’s call to build resilience among the poor by mitigating the impact of economic and environmental shocks.

The National Sociology Conference, hosted by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, provided a platform for critical reflection on poverty, inequality, and social justice.
